I’m a 55-year resident of Everett.  I grew up in the Cascade View neighborhood in South Everett and graduated from Cascade High School.  My wife, Jeanette, and I have raised our three wonderful children in this community and purchased our “forever” home in the Riverside neighborhood.  As parents, we introduced our kids to many of Everett’s parks and recreational opportunities, including story time at the Everett Public Library.  We fell in love with Everett’s amazing sense of community, high quality of life, and excellent educational opportunities.

My passion for this city, my belief in its potential, and my hope to pass on a brighter future for my children have shaped my community involvement for decades.  I am a co-founder of the Cascade View neighborhood association and have been an engaged leader at Riverside.  I have witnessed the power of neighbors working together and helping each other.  In these roles, I truly enjoyed bringing different people together to achieve common goals – protecting our parks, keeping our kids safe, expanding our social connections and community resources – while ensuring all felt welcome.

As a volunteer on transportation and shoreline access committees, I advocated for policy changes that have improved our quality of life.  More recently, I served as a committee chair to help bring back the annual Fourth of July parade to the streets of downtown Everett.  In the past, this has been a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our military personnel, recognize our emergency responders, and highlight important civic organizations that contribute so much to Everett.  I believe events like this can bring our community together with a renewed sense of pride and spirit.  We need more of that!

Beyond my volunteer roles, I have been grateful to serve two terms on the Everett City Council.  Throughout my public service, I valued and solicited input from all community members, sought to lead open and thoughtful discussions, and worked diligently to find pragmatic solutions.  I earned a reputation for doing my homework, pursuing a collaborative approach, and working to find common ground.  I served as President and Vice President on two different occasions – a sign of the trust and respect I developed among my peers on the City Council.  I look forward to doing so again.

A few more facts about me: I graduated from the University of Washington and earned my law degree from The University of Puget Sound / Seattle University School of Law.  Despite my Husky heritage, I’m thrilled to see Washington State University grow and thrive in Everett.  I am involved in my church and currently serve as Director of Parish Financial Services for the Archdiocese of Seattle.
